MFA

IPL is a research lab in the Digital Media Department at the University of Central Florida.  We are closely linked to the graduate program here and offer graduate students the opportunity to pursue a research emphasis in Interactive Performance as a part of their MFA in Film & Digital Media.  Could this be a place for you?

Interactive Performance at UCF

The Interactive Performance emphasis in the UCF Digital Media MFA is the only one of its kind in the world, developing renaissance artists who become the next generation of experts in the development of live, human-to-human, interactive story experiences.  Our graduates are equally at home improvising a dramatic scene, designing and producing a new interactive story project, or working with a new piece of software. But first and foremost, an inter-actor is at home facilitating a non-actor’s natural capacity to play in a fictional story.  The applications of this work are so cutting-edge that there are no pre-existing job descriptions—it is an opportunity for entrepreneurial visionaries to create their own niche in an emerging field.

The degree you will be pursuing is a Masters of Fine Arts in Film & Digital Media.  (This is a terminal degree, like a PhD, except that an MFA is a combination of theoretical and practical.)

The track you will enroll in is Visual Language and Interactive Media.  Your Research Emphasis will be Interactive Performance.

What we offer:
The opportunity to develop the cutting edge of applied interactive performance, with StoryBox, Simu-Life, iRoleplay, the Interactive Performance Lab, and its visionary director, Jeff Wirth.
